Sales and the 'Talent Magnet'

A lot is written about being a ‘Talent Magnet’, either as a company, or as President. It’s all good practice – listen, mentor, reward, provide clear goals and career maps. Good practice for the employer, but what about the employee?

Cavotec MSL is a global engineering group, developing innovative solutions that help industry operate more efficiently and more sustainably. We design and manufacture systems for the airports, ports and maritime, mining and tunnelling and general industry sectors.

We strive to be agile, flexible and above all, work closely with our customers to deliver solutions that meet their specific requirements. Cavotec supports operators in an extraordinarily wide variety of sectors, integrating systems and pioneering solutions that bring tangible benefits to industries and communities throughout the world.

Cavotec in the airports sector

Cavotec's role as a complete systems integrator is exemplified by our performance in the airports sector. At airports around the world, our advanced systems are helping to drive operational efficiencies, reduce tarmac congestion and improve air quality.

Our pre-conditioned air system, PCAir, uses compressed air to rapidly cool aircraft. PCAir reduces reliance on auxiliary power units that typically burn substantial amounts of fuel. PCAir is one of many examples of Cavotec technologies setting industry standards by delivering fully integrated systems that improve efficiency and help our customers reduce environmental impact.

The Group's Airports market unit is composed of Cavotec Fladung, Cavotec Dabico and Cavotec Meyerinck. These companies supply operators worldwide with a comprehensive range of ground support systems designed to make airport operations safer, more efficient, and more sustainable.

Cavotec Meyerinck manufactures a range of fuel and liquid management systems for the airports market, the food and beverage sector and the chemical and petro-chemical industries.

Cavotec Fladung designs and manufactures in- and above-ground support systems, including pop-up units, tunnel systems, caddies, cable coilers, connectors and tow-bars. Cavotec's pop-up pit systems are used for storing 400Hz power cables, PCAir, potable water hoses, and technical services under the tarmac apron and in hangars; thus eliminating the need for service vehicles, diesel generators, and cables and hoses that typically cover much of the area around parked aircraft. After use, the units close flush with the tarmac. Established in 1968, Fladung GmbH became an integral part of the Cavotec Group in 2005.

Based in the U.K. and the U.S., Cavotec Dabico produces fuel supply systems, primarily in-ground delivery units, for a wide range of military and commercial applications.

Cavotec in the ports and maritime sector

Cavotec is at the forefront of the global ports and maritime industry, as it has been for more than forty years. We engineer innovative mooring, propulsion and power supply systems that help ports and ships across the world function more efficiently and more sustainably.

Cavotec's commitment to industry-changing technologies is epitomised by our development of the MoorMasterTM mooring system; an automated vacuum technology that makes conventional mooring lines redundant. Safe, reliable and highly efficient, MoorMasterTM is able to moor ships in just 12 seconds.

Our Alternative Maritime Power (AMP) technology allows ships in ports in Canada, Sweden, Germany and the US to turn off their engines while in port, connect to shore-side electricity thus reducing fuel consumption and improving air quality.

Cavotec's Ports & Maritime market unit also designs and manufactures motorised cable reels, Panzerbelt systems, spring driven cable reels, power chains, power connectors, crane controllers, cables, marine propulsion slip rings, steel chains, slip ring columns and radio remote controls (RRCs).

Cavotec in the general industry sector

Cavotec's General Industry solutions are enormously diverse, but they all share a common, defining characteristic: our drive to help industry operate more efficiently and more sustainably.

From one-man businesses, to multi-national conglomerates, from major sporting events to factory floors, Cavotec works to deliver solutions specific to all applications' requirements. Throughout the globe, our engineers are helping to increase the efficiency with which power, energy, minerals and water are used, managed and transported in thousands of different applications.

Cavotec's solutions for general industry include advanced RRCs, CLT spring reels, FLT spring driven cable reels, power connectors, rotating electrical connectors and cables.

Cavotec in the mining and tunneling sector

Cavotec's expertise in the mining and tunneling sectors is unrivalled. For more than 40 years, we have delivered products and systems that help our customers operate more efficiently and more sustainably.

From our origins in the Swedish mining sector, we have matured into a global services provider for the demanding mining and tunnelling sector. We design and manufacture systems sufficiently rugged to withstand the toughest of environments and deliver optimal performance.

Cavotec engineers continue to research technologies and techniques to drive operational efficiency and improve sustainability in this sector, challenging the limits of technology deep under ground, in mines and tunnels around the world.

Cavotec and the environment

Cavotec has striven to help industry operate more sustainably and efficiently for fifty years. Indeed, many of our systems deliver tangible environmental. In ports, at airports, in mining, tunnelling and general industry sectors, every one of our systems, components and products is designed to help our customers operate more efficiently and more sustainably, thereby reducing their impact on the environment.

While delivering and integrating systems to our customers in a vast range of sectors in 2009, we also focused on our own environmental push internally at Cavotec. For example, we continued to work towards the ISO 14000 certification process for our Research and Engineering Centres.

At the world's ports and airports, in mines and tunnels deep below the Earth's surface, far out at sea serving the offshore energy industry and in countless precision automation applications, Cavotec continues to apply expertise gathered from the past five decades to help industry function more smoothly and more effectively.
